The Facility Awards are presented by the American Sports Builders Association® which is an association of sports construction companies, sports construction designers and sports construction manufacturer’s in North America. The awards process is very stringent and requires a lengthy application process detailing all aspects of the design and construction of a facility supported with the construction plans and photographic journal. The applications are reviewed and scrutinized by an awards committee for compliance with industry standards and governing body requirements and recommendations.
The projects that meet the requirements of the awards program are then judged again for a number of criteria including the complexity of the project, challenges in the design or construction, quality of the construction materials and methods, performance characteristics in relation to the owner’s expectations as well as other factors for consideration of an upper-tier award. The Facility of the Year award is dedicated to the project deemed the very best of all of the facilities submitted.
